The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested several armed robbery suspects and cattle rustlers, recovering cash, POS machines, mobile phones, and livestock in multiple operations across the state.

Police spokesman Shiisu Lawan Adam said the arrests were made possible through the commitment of police officers and support from community vigilante groups.

“These successes show the dedication and professionalism of our officers working closely with the public to fight crime,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

It added that on February 6, a joint patrol team arrested 22-year-old Ahmed Musa from Yobe State in Taura Local Government.
Musa was found with two Android Vivo phones, an Android Smart 8, an Itel phone, a Nokia phone, four ATM cards, a speaker, a lighter, a rechargeable torchlight, and N15,017 in cash.

“Preliminary investigations indicate he is part of a syndicate that targets homes and robs citizens in Taura and surrounding areas,” Adam said.
The suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

In Ringim Local Government, police arrested 20-year-old Abdullahi Danladi and three accomplices after they attacked a motorcyclist on January 28, stealing two Moniepoint POS machines, an MP4 device, ATM cards, and N940,000 in cash.
“The suspects were caught thanks to a swift response by our detectives, and the stolen items have been recovered,” Adam confirmed.

The command also intercepted cattle rustlers in Birnin Kudu Local Government.
On January 29, Isa Alhaji Sabo, 20, was caught with seven stolen cows.
He admitted working with accomplices to steal the livestock from Rangwam and Alwashi communities.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the others, and the recovered cows were returned to their owners.

Another arrest was made on February 3, when Adamu Babare, 24, was caught trying to sell nine of eleven sheep and rams stolen in Sundimina District.
“Two of the animals had already been sold, but the rest were recovered,” Adam said. Babare has been arraigned in court.

Commissioner of Police Dahiru Muhammad praised the officers for their courage and professionalism, as well as the crucial support from other security agencies and local vigilante groups.

He assured the public that the command remains committed to maintaining peace and security across Jigawa State.
