The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a suspect identified as Oladimeji for attempted m8rder of a woman in Akure and recovered a single-barrel gun. The spokesperson of the command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, January 22, 2026 said the suspect allegedly assaulted the victim, Bosede, inflicting multiple injuries on her body. According to the PPRO, the suspect also allegedly fired a gunshot at the victim, who narrowly escaped being hit. The Ondo State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc(+), mnips, has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to combating violent crime with the arrest of one suspect in connection with an attempted m8rder case and unlawful possession of a firearm in Akure, the statement read. "The arrest followed a distress report received from one Bosede, female, of Kayode Street, Akure. Acting promptly on the report, operatives of the Okuta Elerinla Divisional Police Headquarters swiftly mobilized to the scene, where the suspect was arrested. "Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, identified as Oladimeji, male, allegedly assaulted the victim with several fist blows, inflicted a bite injury on her left ear, and caused multiple injuries on her body. The suspect was also reported to have fired a gunshot at the victim, who narrowly escaped being hit. "A thorough search of the suspects residence led to the recovery of one unlicensed single-barrel gun. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody for interrogation, during which he provided useful information to aid the investigation. He will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation. "The Commissioner of Police has cautioned residents of Ondo State against engaging in violent crimes, warning that such actions often result in grave legal consequences. He further reassured members of the public that the Ondo State Police Command remains responsive to all complaints and is fully committed to ensuring justice in all cases.
