
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old suspect in connection with an armed robbery incident in Bara Village, Kirfi Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect, identified as Naziru Alhaji Usman of Tudun Sullubawa Hamlet via Bara Village, was arrested following a police investigation into the attack, which occurred in the early hours of May 9, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the incident was reported to the Bara Police Out Station at about 6 a.m. by one Ibrahim, a resident of Bara Village.
The complainant told police that at about 3 a.m., five armed robbers invaded his residence armed with sticks and cutlasses, assaulted him and made away with several valuables.
Items reportedly stolen during the attack included a bow and arrow, five mobile phones, two solar panels and the sum of ₦422,000.
The police said operatives attached to the Out Station and Kirfi Division swiftly launched an operation following the report and, through intelligence gathering, arrested the suspect.
During the arrest, police recovered one bow and arrow, one cutlass and one solar panel believed to be linked to the robbery.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is said to be providing useful information to assist ongoing investigations.
The command disclosed that efforts were ongoing to arrest other fleeing suspects involved in the robbery and recover the remaining stolen items.
It added that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi State for further investigation before prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the swift response of the operatives, reaffirming the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
He also urged residents to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information, adding hat community collaboration remains crucial in the fight against crime.
