The Osun State Police Command has confirmed an alleged case of child trafficking involving a 13-year-old girl, Salaudeen Saidat.

According to information available to DAILY POST, Salaudeen was reported missing by her aunt, Adeola Ajayi Rukayat, earlier in December 2025.

It was gathered that the aunt raised the alarm after her niece left home and could not be located after several days.

According to the report, the minor had been living with her aunt before her sudden disappearance, which prompted concern and a formal complaint to the police.

Subsequent findings revealed that the missing girl was last seen in the company of one Olawumi Atanda in Ipetu-Jesa town.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said the Osun State Police Command had commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance.

DSP Ojelabi also revealed that a suspect had been arrested in connection with the matter.

Speaking with DAILY POST, Ojelabi said the arrest followed preliminary investigations carried out after the report was made.

“When the matter was reported, investigation commenced, and it was discovered that the victim had been arranged to travel to Lagos by Olawumi Atanda,” he said.

The police spokesperson disclosed that the suspect made certain admissions after his arrest.

“When he was arrested, he confessed that the victim, Saidat, was on her way to Lagos and that a passport had been arranged for her for an African country, but the destination has not been verified yet,” Ojelabi stated.

He added that the suspect is currently in police custody and cooperating with investigators.

“Olawumi has been arrested, and investigation is ongoing to expose the motive behind his action,” the police spokesperson said.

DSP Ojelabi further revealed that efforts are still ongoing to locate the missing girl.

“As of now, the victim has not yet been located. We are still making efforts to find her,” he added.
