
The Benue State Police Command has announced the arrest of three suspected armed robbers found with dozens of stolen electronic gadgets.
In a statement issued on Friday, September 12, 2025, Police Public Relations Officer DSP Udeme Edet said the suspects were intercepted on August 31, 2025, at about 5:05 p.m. by operatives of the Orokam Division during a stop-and-search operation at Orokam Junction along Obollo Afor Road.
The suspects identified as 21-year-old Mujahid Mohammed, 21-year-old Yahaya Abdullahi, and 28-year-old Kalipha Mohammad, all residents of Mararaba, Nyanya, Abuja were allegedly caught with a bag containing 34 assorted mobile phones, three HP laptops, and two MP3 players.
According to the police, the men confessed to being members of a robbery gang that has terrorised Orokam and parts of neighbouring Enugu State.
They reportedly admitted to raiding six flats in the Umukasi area and ten flats at St. Theresa’s area of Nsukka, Enugu State.
The statement added that the gang’s ringleader, identified as 27-year-old Abba Mohammed, escaped with their weapons during the arrest and remains at large.
Police said efforts are ongoing in collaboration with Enugu and Gombe State Commands to track him down and identify the rightful owners of the recovered items.
Commissioner of Police Emenari Ifeanyi praised the quick action of the patrol team and reiterated the command’s resolve to rid Benue of criminal elements.
He urged residents to continue providing timely information to help maintain public safety.
