The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested 27-year-old Adamu Yahaya over the alleged vandalism of electronic wire cables in Taura Local Government Area.
The spokesman of the command, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued to newsmen.
He said the arrest is part of intensified efforts to safeguard lives and property across the state, leading to recent breakthroughs in the Taura and Maigatari Local Government Areas.
According to the statement: “On 29/11/2025 at about 1230hrs, operatives attached to the Taura Division arrested one Adamu Yahaya of Kwalam town, Taura LGA, for vandalism.”
SP Adam added that the suspect was intercepted following credible intelligence indicating suspicious activity at a criminal hideout in Kwalam town, Taura LGA.
“The suspect was arrested in possession of three (3) sacks containing electric wire, which he had unlawfully removed from public power infrastructure.”
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had conspired with accomplices to tamper with government property, thereby sabotaging the community electricity supply.
The recovered exhibits have been secured, while an in-depth investigation is ongoing to uncover his collaborators. The suspect will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
DAILY POST reported that Taura Local Government and its nearby communities were recently reconnected to electricity after spending over 16 years without power.
