
Kaduna State Police Command has apprehended ten armed robbery suspects and recovered four illegal gun fabricators, eight locally made guns with sixteen cartridges, three motor vehicles with one motorcycle.
Police spokesman, DSP Mansir Hassan, in a statement said, “On the 8th of July, 2025, at about 1030hrs, a good samaritan reported to the police that on the 30th of June, 2025, at about 0200hrs, his brother, Ismail Bello, 40 years old, was conveying a passenger on his commercial motorcycle from Sabon Tasha to Unguwan Gwari in Kaduna, upon reaching the area around L.E.A. Primary School, Unguwan Gwari, the supposed passenger asked the rider to stop.”
He said that sensing danger, the rider refused, prompting the assailant to bring out a knife and stab him in the head. Both men fell to the ground, after which the suspect stabbed the victim twice in the stomach and made away with the motorcycle.
Following the report, Hassan stated that the Surveillance Team of Kawo Division immediately swung into action and conducted a thorough investigation that led to the arrest of the suspect, who was identified as one Nura Auwal.
The stolen motorcycle was also successfully recovered treated as an exhibit, saying that the suspect is currently in custody and will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
“In the same vein, On the 19th June 2025, at about 1730hrs, operatives of the Command apprehended the following suspects at Kano Road in Kaduna, the suspects are one Sanusi Bala ‘m’ of Zamfara State and Nura Bala ‘m’ of Zaria, Kaduna State.
“The suspects were apprehended while attempting to robbed a victim of his tricycle. During the course of investigation, the suspects confessed to being members of a syndicate known for targeting and robbing commercial tricycle riders of their tricycles. They further revealed that the stolen tricycles are usually sold to one Jamilu Zurmi ‘m’, of Zamfara State,” the statement added.
He further explained that investigations led to the recovery of three other vehicles from the syndicate, the recovered vehicles include: Golf III Wagon, dark blue in colour, with registration number ABC-152-AL, Golf III Wagon, green in colour, with registration number ABJ-900-RE and Unregistered Golf III Wagon, dark blue in colour, stressing that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other accomplices, including the identified receiver of stolen tricycles.
Additionally, he said, “On 4th June, 2025, at about 1345hrs, operatives of the Command successfully apprehended a group of armed robbery suspects that have been operating in other neighboring states. The incident occurred in Ungwan Sanusi, Kaduna State, where five suspects namely: Ahmed Umar, Isah Musa, Zailani Sa’adu, Abdulrahman Mukhtar and Ibrahim Bala, while armed with weapons, invaded the residence of the victim in the area and robbed him of his Toyota Corolla and other valuables.”
Further investigation, he said revealed that the robbed vehicle was sold to one Alhaji Garba Yaro (M), now at large, of Maradi, Niger Republic and intelligence further uncovered that Alhaji Garba Yaro is a known receiver of several robbed vehicles from the syndicate and other accomplices were also arrested and will soon be prosecuted.
Hassan stressed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the other fleeing suspects and dismantle the entire cross border criminal network.
The spokesman stated that in furtherance to an ongoing investigation into a case of Criminal Conspiracy, illegal dealings in arms and ammunition, aiding and abetment, and kidnapping, anti kidnapping unit operatives acting on credible intelligence on the 7th of July, 2025, extended their investigation to Kwatakore via Nasarawan Doya Village in Makarfi Local Government Area, where three suspects were apprehended, saying that the arrested suspects are: Rabilu Lawal, Sirajo Shuaibu and Shehu Sarki, all of the same address.
During the operation, he said the police recovered two locally made guns and two live cartridges in their possession and preliminary findings indicate that the suspects aided in the kidnapping of the wife of one Alhaji, a resident of Kwatakore.
The suspects, he explained are currently in custody as further investigation continues to uncover the full extent of their involvement and to apprehend other accomplices is still ongoing.
“On the 11th of July, 2025, at about 1600hrs, operatives of the Makarfi Divisional Headquarters, acting on credible intelligence regarding suspicious movements around a residence in Giroji, Makarfi LGA, carried out a successful operation that led to the arrest of four suspects.
“The suspects arrested at the scene are: Hassan Ibrahim, Murtala Yakubu, Shuaibu Abubakar, Ismail Shuaibu.
Upon conducting a thorough search of the premises, it was discovered that the suspects were engaged in illegal fabrication of firearms and ammunition, the statement further explained.
He said that exhibits recovered at the scene included 3 locally fabricated rifles, 3 incomplete skeletal frames of rifles,
14 cartridges, 5 rounds of live T.06 ammunition, 1 bench vice machine, 1 filing machine, 1 welding machine, binding wires, assorted pieces of iron and metal pipes and a bunch of keys, saying that the suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, assured the public that the command remains steadfast in its commitment to dismantling criminal networks and safeguarding the lives and property of all residents.
He also enjoined members of the public to continue providing useful and timely information that will assist the police in achieving its mandate.
