
The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, Danladi Isa has urged the members of Abia State Tricycle Operators Union, ASTOPU, to promptly report suspicious activities to the Police, to nip crime in the bud.
Danladi who made the call on Wednesday when he received the executive members of ASTOPU in his office in Umuahia, noted that Tricycles have at times, been used to perpetrate crimes in Abia.
He promised to partner with all stakeholders in maintaining law, order and safety of Abia people and their property, emphasizing that his Command is focused on fostering synergy with the Tricycle union in combating crime in the State.
Danladi reminded the delegates, led by the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on transport, Obioma Nwaogbe, of the importance of prompt information.
Meanwhile, Abia State Police Command has announced the rescue of a dark complexion girl of about four years suspected to have been stolen.
A statement by the Spokesperson of the Command, Maureen Chinaka on Thursday said the girl was rescued at Mbutu Isiala Ngwa by unknown persons on sighting the Police.
DSP Chinaka said the rescued child was unable to clearly state her name or where she came from.
She advised parents, guardians or relations whose girl child is missing to visit the office of the Serious Crime Investigation Squad (SCISSORS) Aba or contact the Police Public Relations Officer for enquiries.
