
The Katsina State Police Command says it has repelled an attack by armed bandits on two communities in Dandume Local Government Area and arrested a suspected member of the gang.
The Command’s spokesperson, Abubakar Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, noting that the incident occurred on April 28, 2026, at about 10:00 p.m.
According to him, armed bandits invaded Unguwar Bido and Unguwar Kanawa villages, prompting a swift response after a distress call was received.
Aliyu said the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in Dandume mobilised operatives to the scene, where they engaged the attackers in a gun duel and successfully repelled the assault.
He added that one suspect was arrested during the operation, while several of the attackers fled with injuries.
The spokesperson further disclosed that two residents sustained gunshot injuries during the attack and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
He urged residents of the area to remain vigilant and continue to provide credible information to security agencies to aid ongoing operations.
