Security operatives in Nasarawa State have recovered stolen cattle believed to have been rustled from Plateau State, following an intelligence-led operation.
The development was contained in a post shared on X on Monday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
According to the report, detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lafia acted on credible information about suspicious cattle being sold at the Lafia market on April 19.
The operatives moved to the market and arrested a suspect, identified as Alhaji Ziya-U Inusa, who was found with 11 cows suspected to have been stolen.
During questioning, the suspect reportedly said he bought 12 cows from a paramount ruler in Plateau State but was only able to transport 11 due to limited space.
Further investigation led to the identification of the owner of the cattle, Abdullahi Adamu, from Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
“Adamu explained that the animals were part of a herd of 57 cattle that were rustled in May 2025 by armed youths, and efforts to recover them had failed until now,” Makama wrote.
Security sources said the recovered cows are now safe, while investigations are ongoing to uncover others involved in the theft and sale of the livestock.
