Police launch manhunt after gunmen killed couple in Kebbi

The Nigeria Police Force has launched a manhunt for armed men who killed a couple in Asarara village, Kebbi State.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday when gunmen invaded the home of Muhammad Haruna and his wife, Habiba Abubakar, and shot them dead.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Bashir Usman, confirmed the incident, saying investigations had begun to track down those responsible.

He said the bodies had been deposited at a hospital in Birnin Kebbi for examination to assist ongoing investigations.

“As I am talking to you, the bodies are in one of the hospitals in Birnin Kebbi for further investigation and examination to help unravel those behind the act,” he said.

Usman added that security agencies were working to apprehend the perpetrators and urged residents to remain calm and provide useful information that could assist the investigation.

Residents said the attack happened at about 5:30 a.m. and described the deceased as a peaceful couple with no known conflict in the community.

The couple is survived by six children.
