Police rescues 3 persons abducted by bandits in Kebbi

Police operatives in Kewbbi have rescued three persons abducted by bandits in Shanga Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesman for the state police command, Nafi’u Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement on Fridayin Birnin Kebbi.

He said the victims were kidnapped by a criminal gang at about 2:00 a.m. on July 27.

The spokesman listed the victims as Muhammad Namata (25), Gide Namata (20), and Hamidu Alhaji Namani (35).

Abubakar said: “Upon receiving the report, the Divisional police Officer, Shanga, mobilized a combined team of security personnel comprising the Police, Army, Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), vigilantes and hunters for search and rescue mission.

“While the operation was ongoing, they trailed the kidnappers to Shanga hills and engaged them in a fierce gun duel.

“Due to the high- fire power of the combined security personnel, the suspected kidnappers abandoned their victims and took to their heels into the forest with fatal wounds.

“The victims have been successfully rescued on July 31 at about 3:30 p.m, and currently receiving treatment at a medical facility before being reunited with their families.”
