Portable sparks outrage with reaction to former President Buhari’s death

Controversial Nigerian street-hop artist, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has sparked outrage online following his reaction to the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari passed away in London after a protracted illness, and in a video making the rounds on social media, Portable didn’t hold back as he openly mocked the late leader. In his remarks, the singer accused Buhari of being behind the infamous 2020 Lekki Toll Gate shooting during the #EndSARS protests, where security operatives reportedly fired live rounds at unarmed demonstrators.

“The man that gave the order to shoot our people at Lekki Toll Gate is dead. Let’s live right. May he die again in Heaven. He gave the order, not Tinubu. He died in London,” Portable declared in the video.

Alongside the video, he shared a caption that read: “Do Good because of tomorrow…..”

Known for his unpredictable outbursts and blunt opinions, Portable used the moment to urge Nigerians to lead better lives, warning that a person’s deeds continue to speak even after death.

The Lekki Toll Gate shooting remains one of the darkest chapters in Nigeria’s recent history, with many citizens still demanding accountability and justice for those affected by the violent crackdown on peaceful protesters.
