Princess criticises Biola Adebayo for ‘insensitive’ handling of Baba Ijesha interview

Nigerian comedian and actress Damilola Adekoya, popularly known as Princess, has publicly criticised actress Biola Adebayo over her recent apology video following a podcast interview with convicted actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka James, widely known as Baba Ijesha.

The backlash comes after Biola featured Baba Ijesha on her Talk to B podcast shortly after his release from prison, a move that sparked outrage across social media. Princess described the decision as insensitive, accusing Biola of prioritising the offender over the teenage victim involved in the case.

In an emotional video shared on Tuesday, Princess said Biola had never once checked on the welfare of the victim despite years of communication between them. “There has never been one time you asked how my baby is doing,” she said, questioning Biola’s silence on the victim’s condition.

“Biola, you are wicked. This happened in 2021, now we’re in 2026. After you and I have chatted, we’ve also spoken on the phone. There has never been one time, Biola, that you said, ha, sorry about what happened. How is my baby? How is she doing? There has never been one time.”

Princess also criticised Biola for visiting Baba Ijesha in prison and later giving him a platform without pressing for accountability. She argued that the interview failed to address key issues, including whether the actor was willing to apologise for his actions.

“You said you interviewed him. You thought he wanted to apologise. Fine. But you interviewed him, you were there, you were talking and asking questions. In your interview, you didn’t say, oh, I thought you wanted to apologise. Are you ready to apologise? No. But the interview finished. Because I’m sure he’s not the one that gave you the questions to ask. So, you are saying you couldn’t have forced him to apologise. But you didn’t ask him.”

The controversy has reignited public debate around media responsibility, victim advocacy, and the ethics of platforming individuals convicted of serious offences, particularly in cases involving minors.
