Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed as a result of an early morning fire that ravaged a residential building in Ibadan.

DAILY POST gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday.

Our correspondent gathered from sources that the incident occurred at Lane 2, Oluyole Estate in Ibadan.

It was learnt that the sitting room of the duplex residential building was engulfed by fire around 2 a.m.

It was learnt that properties worth millions of naira were destroyed as a result of the fire incident.

The Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident.

He made this declaration via a statement made available to DAILY POST on Monday.

He said that the fire was as a result of an electrical surge.

He maintained that no life was lost in the incident.

He said, “Immediately the address was taken, a crew of fire personnel led by ACFS Adedeji promptly responded and deployed to the scene of the fire incident. Upon arrival, it was a sitting room of a duplex residential building on fire.

“The firemen swiftly swung into action and curtailed and restricted the fire from spreading to other parts of the building. The fire was completely extinguished within twinkle of an eye.

“The fire slightly affected items in the sitting room only, and the whole building and other properties worth millions of naira were saved by the officers of the Agency.

“No casualty was recorded and the fire incident was as a result of electric surge from an electrical appliance plugged unattended to in the sitting room.”
