"Fix the men and leave women alone" Businesswoman tells churches

3 hours ago 1
A businesswoman has said that many bad marriages is caused by how much the society and churches focus on raising women while leaving men to roam. She said this while reacting to Pastor Enoch A. Adeboye's advice that men should not marry a woman who can't cook. Roberta Edu, a married mum-of-two, said focus needs to be shifted from the women to the men. She added that there are many marriageable women because they've been raised to be wives since they were girls. However  she said boys are allowed to do as they like. She wrote: "As long as society and the church refuse to raise men, but instead keep pounding on women, we will continue to see the same outcomes "We will have better marriages and stronger communities if religious centers stop pounding on women and instead focus on men.  "What we have in Nigeria today is a surplus of marriageable women, but not enough marriageable men to go around. Even though there are more men in Nigeria. "An average woman is raised for marriage, from the home, the community, and the church, but an average man in Nigeria is left to roam without ethics or any real teaching on what it means to be married. "If you want to know how bad the situation is with men in Nigeria, just look at crime statistics abroad. Calculate the ratio of men to women jailed for crimes and misdemeanors, and youll realize that if it were left to women alone, Nigeria wouldnt even have a bad image to begin with. Very few Nigerian women misbehave where laws are truly enforced, in the past few weeks, it's over 6 men jailed outside the country for serious crimes, unlike in Nigeria where many crimes and misdemeanors go unpunished.  "We cannot, as a people, continue to do the wrong thing and expect better results. As long as society and the church refuse to do the right thing, by raising men, but instead keep pounding on women, we will continue to see the same outcomes: rising divorce rates  crimes, and other marital problems.  "Just yesterday and today, I did a small survey of 20 men and 20 women. Out of the 20 women, 18 knew how to cook. Out of the 20 men, only 4 knew how to cook.  "As a survival skill, it is clear that men should be the ones pressured to learn cooking, not women. Anyone insisting that women must learn to cook is ignoring the future and failing to recognize the challenges we face in Nigeria.  "We have far too many untrained, unrefined, unstructured, uncultured men roaming the streets of Nigeria, entitled individuals who feel they have a right to everything, including womens bodies.  Fix the men, and leave the women alone.  The post "Fix the men and leave women alone" Businesswoman tells churches appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
