"We gave you life but you gave us more" - Danish aid worker, Anja Ringgren Lovén marks 2 years since the rescue of toddler branded a witch and abandoned in Akwa Ibom

Danish aid worker, Anja Ringgren Loven has marked two years since she and her team rescued a malnourished toddler who was abandoned and left to d!e in Akwa State after being branded a witch.  The child, now named Hope, was rescued in March 2024, after she was found in a near d3ath situation. Taking to Facebook on Thursday, March 19, 2026, she shared a video of Hope, describing the last two years with the little girl as one filled with joy and light. "Its been 2 years now since we rescued Hope. 2 years of living in Hopes world. 2 years of your love and support. Thank you Hope for spreading so much joy and light wherever you go. Your smile is healing.
