Renewed cult clash claims three lives in Rivers

1 hour ago 1

A fresh outbreak of cult violence has left three people dead in Oyorokoto community, Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.

According to reports, suspected cultists stormed the area in the early hours of Tuesday, arriving in a speedboat and targeting specific houses where they killed three individuals.

This incident follows earlier killings linked to cult supremacy battles: one person was reportedly killed in Ngo on Monday, and another in Unyegala community on Sunday.

The renewed violence has heightened tension across the LGA, forcing some residents to flee their homes for safety.

Spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, Superintendent Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the earlier killings in Ngo and Unyegala, attributing them to clashes between rival cult groups. She noted that investigations and efforts to apprehend the perpetrators are ongoing, but said she could not yet confirm Tuesday’s attack at Oyorokoto.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Obolo Youth Coalition, Rivers State chapter, Jonathan Enyina, condemned the killings, calling for urgent action to restore peace in the affected communities.
