A notorious bandit leader known as Jankare has been killed by a rival gang during a violent clash along the Dutsenma axis of Katsina State.
The incident was confirmed in a post shared on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Thursday.
According to Makama, the clash broke out after a disagreement between Jankare and another bandit commander over recent criminal activities and control of territories in the area.
Jankare, who had long terrorised communities in Dutsenma and neighbouring local government areas, was reportedly shot dead during the confrontation.
He was said to be responsible for several deadly attacks, kidnappings, and cattle rustling operations across the region. The slain warlord was also known for his active presence on TikTok, where he frequently displayed weapons and mocked security forces.
Makama revealed that Jankare recently attended a meeting of bandit leaders aimed at resolving internal disputes before his fallout with rivals led to his death.
Security operatives are now closely monitoring the situation to prevent possible reprisal attacks among the rival groups.
