Following the test conducted on October 21, President Vladimir Putin on Sunday dubbed Russia’s nuclear missile as the most powerful in the world.
”It is on a higher level than that of all other nuclear states,” the leader stated at a meeting with Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
Putin said the drill of the strategic offensive forces affirmed the reliability of the nuclear shield, which is fully capable of ensuring the national security of the federation.
According to the president, the Burevestnik nuclear-powered unlimited-range cruise missile “is indeed a unique weapon that no other country possesses.”
He recalled that after the plan to build the weapon was announced, several top-class experts told him the goal was worthy but unattainable in the near historical perspective.
Putin said upon achievement, all specialists in the military field across the globe now agree that the modernity of Russia’s nuclear deterrence forces is at the very highest level.
The supreme commander told Gerasimov that with the decisive exercises completed, the next step is to finalize all regulations and prepare the weapon for combat duty.
Speaking, the military chief said unlike previous trials, the latest nuclear test featured a 15-hour flight, with the missile covering 14,000 kilometers, which is not the limit.
Gerasimov confirmed it completed all prescribed vertical and horizontal maneuvers, showcasing a high capability to evade missile-defence and air-defence systems.
The General further informed Putin that Burevestnik’s technical characteristics generally allow for its use with assured accuracy against highly protected targets at any range.
