At least 127 passengers and crew members aboard an Air Peace Flight P47190, escaped death on Sunday morning after the plane veered off the runway while landing at the Obafemi Jeremiah Awolowo International Airport in Port Harcourt.
A statement confirming the incident signed by the spokesman of Air Peace Limited, operators of the airline, Osifo-Whiskey Efe, said the flight operating from Lagos to Port Harcourt, experienced a “runway excursion” after landing safely at the airport.
“The aircraft veered slightly off the runway without any damage. All passengers disembarked safely and calmly, and no injuries were reported,” the statement said.

Also confirming the incident in a statement, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Obiageli Orah, said safety protocols were swiftly activated and all passengers were safely accounted for.
“All 127 passengers on board were safely evacuated, and no casualties were recorded,” she said.
“Passengers and airlines should anticipate possible delays for departing flights to Port Harcourt as a result of the incident. FAAN assures the public that safety and security remain top priorities, and further updates will be provided as investigations continue,” she added.
