Senator Ibrahim Khalid Mustapha, who represents Kaduna North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a resignation letter dated March 27, 2026, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Soba Ward in Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, the lawmaker said his decision was informed by the persistent internal crisis within the party.
Mustapha noted that the ongoing leadership disputes and court cases have created deep divisions in the party, making it difficult for him to continue his membership and active participation.
“The internal crisis, unending court cases and the resulting leadership disagreement and divisions within the party at various levels have made it increasingly difficult for me to continue my membership, active participation and commitment as a member,” he stated.
According to him, the conflicts have weakened the unity and direction that once defined the PDP.
Despite his exit, the senator expressed gratitude to party members for their support throughout his political journey.
“I sincerely thank all the party faithful for their support and belief in me over the years. You have been a strong pillar and I remain deeply appreciative of the trust and encouragement I have received,” he added.
Mustapha said the letter should be accepted as his formal notice of resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party.
It was gathered that Senator Ibrahim Khalid Senator resignation from PDP comes amid indications he is to join the ADC.
