
Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has tasked all agencies responsible for traffic regulations to enforce compliance and carry out routine checks on all vehicles plying Nigerian roads.
Alli, who was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), noted that this is necessary to avoid preventable deaths on the roads.
The APC chieftain made the declaration while reacting to yesterday’s road accident in Ibadan, the state capital.
DAILY POST reports that two people lost their lives as a result of an accident that occurred in Ibadan on Tuesday.
Alli, in his reaction, urged agencies responsible for road safety to enforce all necessary regulations to prevent future occurrences.
The lawmaker, in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accident.
He also called on drivers to exercise caution on the roads.
The statement reads: “The lawmaker urged relevant authorities to intensify efforts toward ensuring road safety.
“Senator Alli also called on drivers to exercise caution, adhere strictly to traffic rules, and ensure their vehicles were roadworthy before embarking on any journey.”
