United States President Donald Trump has sent out a message to the countries of the world to join hands in securing the Strait of Hormuz.
Writing on Truth Social, Trump said that the US has done its part in decimating Iran militarily and economically but insisted that other nations who depend on the Strait of Hormuz for the flow business must now come in.
Iran has maintained that countries will not be allowed to use the narrow way unless they cut diplomatic ties with the US and Israel.
The Arab nation has vowed to destroy cargo vessels attempting to use the Strait of Hormuz.
The effective blockade of the strait, partly due to drone attacks on oil tankers and cargo vessels, has escalated the oil price to around $100 per barrel.
US Navy is currently unable to escort vessels through the Strait of Hormuz at the moment, but experts say it is quite likely that such operations could commence by the end of the month.
Other nations, including France, have indicated a willingness to assist in the convoying of merchant shipping should the conflict subside.
Renewing his call for other nations to help secure the strait of Hormuz, Trump said the US will coordinate with them.
“The United States of America has beaten and completely decimated Iran, both Militarily, Economically, and in every other way, but the Countries of the World that receive Oil through the Hormuz Strait must take care of that passage, and we will help – A LOT,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.
