Suspected Boko Haram insurgents attempted to infiltrate the Aljilari Cross area of Maiduguri, authorities have reported.
The attack was detected early by vigilant security operatives, who quickly moved to intercept the insurgents before they could cause harm.
Residents of the area reported hearing gunshots and seeing increased movement of security personnel as patrols intensified in response to the threat.
Authorities say “no casualties have been reported so far, and the situation is currently under control”.
The Army has also urged residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity, stressing that continued community cooperation is key to preventing such attacks.
This attack comes amid ongoing efforts by security agencies to curb Boko Haram’s activities in Borno State.
