
Suspected gunmen have reportedly killed two people in a deadly attack on Iwanev community at Ugbema Junction in Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State.
Sources said a group of unidentified gunmen invaded the community under the cover of darkness, killing two residents on the spot and abducting three others to an unknown destination.
The attack has thrown the community into fear and panic, with residents expressing concern over the worsening security situation and the possibility of further assaults.
Residents have appealed to the Benue State Government, led by Governor Hyacinth Alia, as well as the chairman of Buruku Local Government Area, Hon. Raymond Zege Aondoakura, to take immediate and decisive action to restore peace and protect lives and property.
They also called on security agencies to intensify patrols and launch thorough investigations aimed at apprehending the perpetrators and securing the safe release of the abducted victims.
Meanwhile, efforts to confirm the incident from the spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, DSP Udeme Edet, were unsuccessful as at the time of this report.
