The Benue State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Tim Nyor, has resigned from his position and withdrawn his membership from the party with immediate effect.
In a statement announcing his decision, Nyor said the move followed what he described as deep reflection and a painful realisation that he could no longer function within a party system he believes is headed towards self-destruction.
He stated that loyalty should not amount to complicity, and commitment must not require the surrender of one’s conscience.
The former spokesperson said he has chosen to align with what he called a genuine developmental path for the state, declaring support for the reform-driven administration of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia.
He described the governor’s efforts as a “Benue Renaissance.”
Nyor added that safeguarding his dignity, conscience and mental well-being must take priority over partisan affiliation at this stage of his life.
While expressing appreciation to the PDP for the opportunities and relationships built over the years, he maintained that his decision is final.
Earlier, Hon. Tim Nyor, was suspended by the party over alleged gross violation of its laid-down principles, acts of insubordination, and anti-party activities.
