The Kano State Police Command has successfully reunited a missing teenager with his family after uncovering his true identity following an initial claim that he was a foreign national.

The boy was discovered in Dadin Kowa Village in Doguwa Local Government Area, where he identified himself as a Spanish citizen named Alex Ansol. However, after a detailed investigation, authorities established that he is actually a 16-year-old Nigerian, Yusuf Sabiu.

Confirming the development in a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Kiyawa, said the command was able to trace the teenager’s family after verifying his background.

“Thorough investigation by the command revealed that the teenager, who had previously claimed to be a Spanish national named Alex Ansol, was in fact Yusuf Sabiu, 16 years old,” the statement read.

According to the police, Yusuf’s father, Saminu Yusuf, hails from Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State, while his mother, Habiba Adam, is from Plateau State. The command also disclosed that both parents had been separated for more than 13 years prior to the incident.

Following the identification process, the teenager was formally reunited with his parents at the Doguwa Police Division.
