The Special Adviser to Kebbi State Governor on Special Duties, Shafi’u Abubakar Shattiman Zauro, has said the people of the state will take former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, to court for alleged defamation.

Shafi’u stated this on Wednesday at a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi, while reacting to Malami’s reported claim that the state government was sponsoring terrorism.

He accused the former minister of making frivolous allegations aimed at causing disunity in the state, adding that Malami had a history of controversial actions against political associates and rivals.

According to him, Malami has not contributed to the development of Kebbi State and was unhappy with the progress recorded by the present administration under Governor Nasir Idris, especially in attracting investments in the mining sector.

Shafi’u said the people of Kebbi had therefore resolved to seek legal redress against Malami over alleged defamation and character assassination.
