A technical committee comprising legislators and appointees who served in the administrations of Orji Uzor Kalu, Theodore Orji and Okezie Ikpeazu has been inaugurated in Abia State, with a charge to draft a blueprint for the development and repositioning of the state.
The committee is headed by Anthony Agbazuere, the former Chief of Staff to the immediate past governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu.
Inaugurating the committee in Umuahia on Saturday, former governor of the state, Orji Uzor Kalu, said the members were drawn from a larger committee appointed on January 9, 2026, during a previous meeting held at the residence of former governor Theodore Orji.

He said that the inauguration was done with the mandate of the three governors who ruled the state from 1999 to 2023, himself, Theodore Orji and Okezie Ikpeazu, as well as the ex-appointees and former legislators.
Kalu, who said that the three former governors, ex-legislators and appointees were out to reposition the state for greater progress, noted that it was wrong for anyone to rubbish the achievements of former Abia leaders in the development of the state.
He added that the development blueprint, when ready, would be studied by the former governors and handed over to whoever emerges as the 2027 governorship candidate in the Abia 2027 polls for the state’s progress.
Kalu also explained that the recent Electoral Act barring indiscriminate cross-carpeting by Nigerian politicians was designed to restore sanity to the electoral system.
On the threat by Abia Labour Party members to stop his third-term ambition in the Senate, Kalu described the threat as roadside talk, declaring that his victory would only come from the Abia North electorate.
