TikTok influencer Habeeb Hamzat, also known as Peller, has issued a public apology from his hospital bed following his arrest over an attempted suicide on Sunday, December 14, 2025.

In a video that has gone viral on Instagram, Peller admitted that he allowed his emotions to overwhelm him and expressed deep regret over the incident. “I am sorry, Nigerians. Please, I will never do that again. I let my emotions get to me; I didn’t do it intentionally,” he said.

The incident unfolded during a live stream on the Lekki–Epe Expressway, which Peller titled “RIP Peller.” During the video, he was visibly distressed, crying and expressing fear, before the vehicle crashed. The livestream quickly gained widespread attention on social media.

Reports indicate that the influencer’s actions were linked to an alleged breakup with his girlfriend, Elizabeth Amadou, known as Jarvis. At the time, Peller was alone in his newly purchased Mercedes-Benz and appeared to be emotionally distressed while on a phone call with someone believed to have been Jarvis.

Following the crash, Peller was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for reckless driving while live-streaming, which endangered both his life and public safety. The police have confirmed that his actions constituted a deliberate attempt to take his own life.

Police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi stated that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a comprehensive investigation. Authorities are reviewing all aspects of the incident, including the circumstances surrounding the live stream.

The apology and ongoing investigation have sparked significant conversation online, with Nigerians sharing a mix of concern for Peller’s mental health and reactions to the public nature of the incident. Mental health experts have stressed the importance of emotional support and intervention for young people navigating personal and social pressures.
