The co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls movement, Aisha Yesufu, has accused President Bola Tinubu is destroying and desecrating every institution in Nigeria.
Yesufu, who also prides herself as an advocate of good governance, was responding to a tweet by journalist ‘Fisayo Soyombo, following Tinubu’s extension of the tenure of the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, by one year.
She noted that the action was a further proof of the President’s nepotistic tendencies.
Soyombo had berated Tinubu for extending Adeniyi’s tenure.
The Customs CG was due for retirement in August.
“Public service rules specify that civil servants could retire by two ways: either after attaining 60 years of age or spending 35 years in service. For Adeniyi, he qualifies to retire through the second requirement as he would have spent 35 years on the job by August. The president has chosen to have him in office beyond the normal number of service years,” Soyombo had written.
While commenting under Soyombo’s post on her X handle on Friday, Yesufu said:
“We are watching Tinubu destroying every fabric of our institutions. Desecrating them!”
