President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday received a detailed security briefing from Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, at the State House, following the recent terrorist attack in Kaiama Local Government Area.

DAILY POST reports that the briefing came in the wake of a deadly assault on communities in Kaiama, particularly Woro village, where terrorists targeted villagers who resisted indoctrination.

Initial reports indicated that at least 75 residents were killed, but recent updates suggest the death toll has risen to approximately 162.

Governor AbdulRazaq, who visited the affected areas on Wednesday alongside security officials, described the attack as a “pure massacre” and directed the state emergency management agency to provide immediate humanitarian assistance to the victims.

In response to the crisis, President Tinubu approved the deployment of an army battalion to Kaiama and announced the launch of “Operation Savannah Shield,” a new military initiative aimed at neutralising the terrorists and protecting vulnerable communities.

The President condemned the attack as “beastly” and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening security in the region.
