Tinubu hosts Chadian president Idriss Deby

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday, hosted the President of Chad, Mahamat Idriss Déby, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

In attendance at the meeting were the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, and other senior government officials.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that Tinubu received the Chadian leader in a closed-door session, during which both leaders discussed issues of mutual interest and explored ways to enhance regional collaboration.

The meeting took place shortly before Tinubu’s scheduled trip to Jos, where he commiserated with victims of the recent attacks in Plateau State.

while details of the meeting are yet to emerge there are speculation that it may be connected to efforts by both countries to strengthen bilateral relations and deepen cooperation on regional security, trade, and economic development.

Nigeria and Chad, as key stakeholders in the Lake Chad Basin and have continued to work together in addressing shared security challenges.

Both countries play active roles in tackling insurgency and cross-border threats affecting the region.
