President Bola Tinubu has nominated a member of his economic team, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance.
Oyedele will replace Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, who has been moved to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State, her third portfolio in the administration.
The Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, said Tinubu conveyed Oyedele’s nomination to the Senate for confirmation in a letter addressed to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
Until his nomination, Oyedele was Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms.
The committee spearheaded major reforms that overhauled Nigeria’s tax system.
Oyedele, 50, hails from Ikaram, Akoko, in Ondo and holds a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology.
He also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
Oyedele completed executive education programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science and the Harvard Kennedy School.

He spent 22 years at PriceWaterHouse Coopers (PwC), where he rose to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.
Oyedele is a professor at Babcock University, Ogun State, and a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
