Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, warning against what he described as attempts to entrench prolonged rule and weaken democratic opposition.
Melaye alleged that Tinubu’s political ambition to become Cameron’s President, Paul Biya in Nigeria will not work.
In a video on his Facebook page, Melaye insisted such a move would not succeed in Nigeria.
“Tinubu’s ambition to be the Paul Biya and Musa Kankan of Nigeria will not work,” he said.
He called on Nigerians to resist any push towards a one-party system, adding that what he termed a “Kabiyesi mentality” had no place in a democratic society.
“We will resist one party state, Kabiyesi mentality will not work, arise Nigerians,” he added.
The former lawmaker also expressed concern over the state of the nation, describing the current period as unprecedented.
“We are in perilous times in the country, we have never seen this kind of situation like this in this country. Unfortunately, we have a president who doesn’t care,” he said.
