Chairman of the Nigeria-Turkey Business Council, Dele Oye has outlined the aim of President Bola Tinubu’s visit to Turkey.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show,’ Oye said the visit was aimed at resetting trade relationships.
According to him, President Tinubu’s visit has boosted bilateral relations with Turkey, addressing huge geo-security challenges.
He added that officially, trade between Nigeria and Turkey is between $1-$2 billion, noting that Turkish products are found everywhere in Nigerian homes.
Oye further stated that unofficially, trade volume likely exceeds $10 billion, adding that the signing of Memorandum of Understanding will enhance Nigerian businesses’ capacity to partner with Turkish counterparts.
“President Tinubu’s visit was a huge success for Nigeria. What Mr President’s visit has done, we have huge security challenges and several other bilateral issues between Nigeria and Turkey.
“Currently the business between Nigeria and Turkey is roughly between $1-$2 billion. I can tell you that there’s no home in Nigeria you can’t find Turkey product.
“So, there’s need to reset this relationship and that is the reason for Mr President’s visit. The signing of those MoUs and agreements will enhance our ability as private businesses to continue to do business with Turkey,” he said.
