Tobi Amusan wins Silver at Tokyo World Championships

Tobi Amusan, once again reminded the athletics world of her brilliance as she stormed to a silver medal in the women’s 100m hurdles at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. Running a blistering 12.29 seconds.

The 28-year-old delivered yet another top-tier performance on the global stage, cementing her status as one of the most consistent hurdlers of this generation. The race was won by Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji, who set a new National Record of 12.24s to claim gold, while USA’s Grace Stark secured bronze in 12.34s.

With the 2028 Olympics on the horizon, this silver medal is yet another chapter in a career that still has plenty to offer. For now, Tokyo 2025 will be remembered as the stage where Amusan proved once again that she belongs among the very best in the world.

However, Nigerians will hope that the Athletics Federation of Nigeria do not jeopardise her chances of winning a medal in Los Angeles, USA which is scheduled to take place from July 14 to July 30, 2025.

Amusan had earlier in the day, winning her semifinal race in a time of 12.36 seconds.
