Newcastle United striker, Alexander Isak, will be joining Liverpool as the most costliest player in the Premier League.
According to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool and Newcastle have finally agreed a deal in the region of £130m for the Sweden international.
“Here we go! Deal agreed now for £130m transfer fee. Record move for Premier League,” he wrote on X on Sunday night.
According to him, the striker is on his way to Anfield today for medical tests.
He becomes the latest player to join the Reds who have been very active in this summer’s transfer window.
Isak had already agreed a long term deal with Liverpool months ago.
The player snubbed discussions with any other club as he insisted on a move to the Premier League title holders.
Before now, Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo held the record as the costliest player in the EPL after he joined for a fee of £115m.
Others were Arsenal’s Declan Rice (£105m)
Jack Grealish’s move to Manchester City (£100m)
Paul Pogba’s transfer to Manchester United £89m
Liverpool’s deal for Darwin Nunez (£85m)
DAILY POST reports that Liverpool are now strong enough to defend the Premier League title they won last season and also show strength in Europe.
The Reds beat Arsenal 1-0 in the Premier League on Sunday to maintain a 100% start to the Premier League season.
