Manchester United has officially announced the permanent transfer of defender Rhys Bennett to Fleetwood Town.
The confirmation came in a statement on the club’s website on Saturday.
Bennett, who spent the previous season on loan at Fleetwood, made 35 league appearances for the League Two club.
The 22-year-old rose through the ranks in United’s academy and captained the FA Youth Cup-winning team in the 2021/22 season, scoring in the final against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford.
Having joined the Red Devils at the Under-10 level, Bennett was known for his professionalism and was a valued member of the academy squads.
In their statement, Manchester United expressed gratitude for Rhys’s contributions, wishing him the “best” for his future endeavors.
“We will be watching your career with keen eyes,” Man United’s statement partly read.
This is coming just ahead of United’s Premier League clash against Fulham on Sunday.
