
Nigerian Army troops under Operation Hadin Kai, with support from the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, Air Component, have repelled a coordinated Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, attack on Rann, Kala Balge Local Government Area of Borno State.
The development was disclosed in a post on Friday by security analyst Zagazola Makama via X.
According to the report, the attack, launched around 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, triggered a fierce firefight that lasted until about 2:00 a.m., with ground troops holding their positions and inflicting heavy casualties on the insurgents.
As the terrorists attempted to flee, NAF aircraft carried out precision airstrikes on the retreating fighters, killing several more.
Military sources confirmed that at least seven terrorists were eliminated in the ground battle, while clearance operations continue in areas targeted during the air bombardment to determine the full scale of enemy losses.
