
Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a suspected terrorist informant in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The development was contained in a post shared on X on Thursday by security analyst, Zagazola Makama.
According to the post, the arrest was carried out by troops of the 244 Battalion deployed at the Forward Operating Base in Kaiama, working together with local vigilante operatives.
“The suspect was reportedly apprehended at about 6:45 p.m. on April 28 in Vera village during a joint security operation in the area,” Makama said.
Sources said preliminary findings indicated that the suspect allegedly wrote and delivered a threat letter to the community, claiming to be acting on behalf of terrorists.
They added that the suspect is believed to have been working as an informant for criminal elements operating within the area.
The suspect is currently in military custody and is being interrogated, with further investigation ongoing for possible prosecution.
