Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have again destroyed a major bandits’ camp in Takum Local Government Council of Taraba State.
The achievement, according to a release made available to journalists in the state on Monday by the Acting Assistant spokesperson of the Brigade, Lt. Umar Muhammad, is part of the ongoing Operation Lafiya Nakowa.
The development as stated by the troops, is aimed at clearing out bandits and terrorist elements across the state
The operation that led to the achievement, was confirmed to have been conducted on Friday, 31 October 2025, following credible intelligence about criminal hideouts around Unom, Yongogba, Tornyi and Mbayongo villages.
On assessing the intelligence report, troops, according to Mohammad, launched a clearance patrol through several communities including Tor-Tser, Kofar Ahmadu, and Sabon Gida Tati.
“During the mission, the soldiers received additional intelligence that bandits had been sighted near TY Farm in Tati. The troops immediately advanced toward the area and engaged the criminals, who fled into the forest after encountering superior firepower from the Nigerian Army”, the statement read.
Further exploitation of the area , the troops said, led to the discovery and destruction of a major bandits’ camp at TY Farm. A Dane gun and other items were also confirmed to have been recovered during the operation.
The Commander of the Brigade, Brigadier Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their gallantry, professionalism, and swift response.
He reiterated the Brigade’s commitment to ensuring lasting peace and security in Taraba State and urged residents to continue providing credible information to support military efforts.
