Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have foiled terrorist attacks and arrested suspected collaborators in separate operations across Borno State.
The Nigerian Army in an operational report made available to journalists on Sunday, said the troops of 25 Brigade successfully thwarted an attempted attack by the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) fighters on Damboa on Saturday.
The army said the terrorists were detected advancing from the Timbuktu Triangle axis and were engaged with artillery and mortar fire which forced them to retreat in disarray.
According to the report, follow-up exploitation supported by air surveillance recorded no further contact.
In another operation, troops of 115 Battalion repelled another attack on their position at Mussa in Askira Uba Local Government Area.

The report added that the insurgents withdrew after a fierce exchange of fire, while troops maintained dominance of the area.
“Meanwhile, a joint operation involving Civilian Joint Task Force operatives led to the arrest of 14 suspected terrorist logistics suppliers in Gamboru Market and Customs Area of Maiduguri.
“Items recovered from the suspects include mobile phones and cash, while investigations are ongoing.
“Similarly, troops of 25 Brigade and 19 Battalion arrested a suspected kidnapper at Azir in Damboa Local Government Area,” the report stated.
