Scores of terrorists have been neutralised by troops of the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, who also recovered arms and logistics items during sustained offensive operations across the theatre under Operation DESERT SANITY V.
The Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, disclosed this during a press briefing on Friday, stating that the troops have continued offensive operations across the theatre under Operation DESERT SANITY V, achieving significant operational successes.
He said that in Sector 2, troops, in conjunction with the Civilian Joint Task Force, successfully neutralised scores of terrorists during a night operation around Muktum and Ngirbuwa villages in Yobe State.
During the operation, he explained, two AK-47 rifles, three motorcycles, and mobile phones were recovered.
The statement further revealed that additional exploitation along the terrorists’ withdrawal route uncovered drag marks and a shallow grave, indicating further enemy casualties.
Similarly, he said, “Troops of Sector 1, while conducting operations along the Bulayobe–Darel Jamel axis, engaged fleeing terrorists attempting to cross the Main Supply Route.”
The media officer stated that the criminals fled in disarray, abandoning two sacks containing assorted logistics items suspected to be intended for terrorist elements.
He added that the general security situation across the theatre remains calm but unpredictable, emphasising that military authorities maintain that troops’ morale and fighting efficiency remain high as they continue to dominate their areas of responsibility and frustrate terrorist activities.
The Headquarters OPHK reassured residents of the region of its resolve to sustain operations against insurgent groups.
It also reiterated its unwavering commitment to maintaining pressure on Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists until lasting peace and economic stability are fully restored in the North East.
