Troops of the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, in conjunction with the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), recorded another resounding success after they neutralised a notorious kidnap kingpin who has been terrorising residents of the Dong Community, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The operation, which reportedly took place in the early hours of Monday, December 15, 2025, also saw the troops arresting three informants as well as the recovery of sophisticated weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and four rounds of ammunition.
According to a security source who confirmed the development to DAILY POST, the operation was launched in response to reports of multiple kidnappings in the Dong community in recent months, including the abduction of a youth corp member and her brother who were kidnapped in November and were only released after their family were made to part with millions of naira in ransom payment.
The soldier added that during the operation, the troops engaged the kidnappers in a shootout and killed one suspect who was later identified as a community resident working with the gang.
“The arrested informants and recovered weapons are in custody, while follow-up operations are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the kidnapping syndicate, as the military reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and called for continued public cooperation,” he stated.
