The United States President, Donald Trump, finally admitted that he told Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu not to attack Iranian oil facilities as crude oil prices topped $109 per barrel on Thursday.
Trump disclosed this while responding to a journalist’s question when hosting Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in the Oval Office on Thursday.
According to him, Israel and the US have excellent relations, but at times the former does things Americans do not like.
“I told Netanyahu not to attack oil and gas facilities anymore. We act independently, we have excellent relations, and we are in agreement, but sometimes he does something I don’t like, and then…that’s why we don’t do that anymore. “Yes, yes. “I told him,” Trump said.
His admittance comes after the Israeli military attacked Iranian gas facilities in the South Pars Gas Field on Wednesday.
In retaliation, Iran attacked the Las Laffan Liquefied Natural Gas facility in the neighboring Gulf state, Qatar.
Responding to the Las Laffan gas facility attack in Qatar, the president had threatened a heavy attack on Iran.
The further conflict escalation had led to crude oil prices surging to $109 per barrel for Brent crude and $95.77 per barrel for West Texas Intermediate on Thursday.
