
United States President, Donald Trump has announced the removal of Attorney General, Pam Bondi from office, bringing an end to her tenure after about a year in the role.
Trump disclosed the development in a statement shared on Truth Social on Thursday, where he praised Bondi’s service, describing her as “a great American patriot and a loyal friend.”
He credited her with overseeing a significant nationwide crackdown on crime, claiming that murder rates dropped to their lowest level in over a century during her time in office.
According to the president, Bondi will be transitioning to a new role in the private sector, which he said would be announced at a later date.
Trump also named Deputy Attorney General, Todd Blanche as Acting Attorney General, noting that he would assume leadership of the Justice Department with immediate effect.
“Pam Bondi is a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend, who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year. Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country, with Murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900. We love Pam,” Trump said.
