United States President Donald Trump has disclosed that he would increase tariffs on cars and trucks imported from the European Union, EU, to 25 percent.
Trump made this known on Friday in a post on his Truth Social, accusing the EU of not complying with fully agreed trade deal.
According to him, the tariffs would take effect next week without specifying an exact day.
“I am pleased to announce that, based on the fact the European Union is not complying with our full agreed to Trade Deal, next week I will be increasing Tariffs charged to the European Union for Cars and Trucks coming into the United States.
“The tariff will be increased to 25%. It is fully understood and agreed that, if they produce cars and trucks in USA plants, there will be no tariff,” he wrote.
The US President stated that many automobile and truck plants are currently under construction with 100 Billion Dollars being invested, a record in the History of Car and Truck Manufacturing.
He added that the Plants, staffed with American workers, will be opening soon, noting that there has never been anything like what is happening in America today.
