Two individuals suspected of links to Iran have been arrested after attempting to access a major UK military installation, triggering a high-level security response. The incident occurred outside HM Naval Base Clyde, one of Britains most sensitive defence sites, which houses the Royal Navys nuclear deterrent submarines armed with Trident missiles.Armed officers detained a 34-year-old man, believed to be an Iranian national, and a 31-year-old woman after they allegedly tried to enter the base before being turned away by security personnel. Authorities said the pair remained nearby in a vehicle and were behaving suspiciously, prompting further action.A spokesperson for the Royal Navy confirmed the individuals had unsuccessfully attempted to gain access, adding that the matter remains under investigation.
Security teams, including Ministry of Defence Police, carried out searches of the vehicle using sniffer dogs, while the base was temporarily placed on lockdown.
